Study 2
A recent study in Australia looked at \(1,101\) participants between the ages of \(13\) and \(16\) and the effects of night time cell phone use on these teens. The researchers tracked cell phone use over the course of \(3\) years to determine whether or not cell phone use affected sleep. The researchers concluded "that the adolescents who used phones after nightfall tended to have worse self-esteem, were more depressed and were poorer at coping with problems. The night-time phone users were also more likely to engage in aggressive behaviour." (Source ).
