Instead of seeing the whole map, look at a smaller section. Each number represents the number of ways it takes to get to that intersection. For instance, from the start, there's only one way to get to Willis Tower and there are \(3\) ways to get to the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Can you count them?
Now that you see how to count the number of routes, compare the map with the diagram below. Notice that the numbers below also appear on the map. Do you notice a pattern in the diagram below? If you do, you can use this pattern instead of having to count the number of routes to each intersection on the map.
